The announcer, Scott Wilson, advised that a Panorama film team were around in Edinburgh today at Truckfest 2011.

Horn-blowing gave them a lot of problems........

I'm, hopefully flying to India on Boxing Day & really looking forward to it.

I said I'd let everyone know how my workshops went.

They were great for a number of reasons:

1) They were not expensive 150 Euros each
2) They were during the weekend (no need to take time off work)
3) The instructor John McDonald was very knowledgeable and friendly!
4) Like all workshops, the other participants added value to you knowledge

Apart from my falling and injuring my knee trying to get there on time, this was a fabulous weekend; greatly enjoyed the training and the company.

And - I learned lots

Well, I bought the D300s. And a few other goodies; S900 and Eye-Fi Card :-D
I also thought it might be good to get some training and discovered that Nikonians are doing reasonably priced courses in the UK

Should I be sensible and buy Nikon D300s as my next camera........
...or go nuts and buy the D3s???..........

Spotted an unusual application of DropBox

I've just uploaded an image on the front of my webpage of a Black Swan - via wireless.

I have only had my iPhone for slightly over a month and have become addicted to iApps!

Well, had a great time in Laos, including Elephant Polo!

This all started a few days ago at a family party when my nephew asked if I could design him a channel page

The image of the Mandarin on my home page was on Scotland's Big Picture on their web on 27th October!

You only get one day of fame but it is still there!!

I have used it to produce an online video tutorial of the retouching on one of the Red Arrow images.

I went and re-shot the image today 4th March 2009 and I learned a couple of things:

1) It is now dangerous to photograph in the middle of the street!! John was lucky

2) In the grand scheme of things - not much has changed

Another form of retouching

Last week while taking an image of a rampant lion on a wall in Dalkeith, a passerby advised that the building
(now a bank) used to be a pub called the Red Lion.



Spookily, a member of my camera club had some old images with him at our last meeting, one of which showed Dalkeith High Street and the Red Lion.

John kindly let me borrow his print, which I scanned and I have circled the pub.



The detailed shot below is a little noisy, but you should be able to make out the sign above the door



The bank appears to have extended somewhat to the right.
